Gloucestershire secured a second consecutive County Championship Division Two victory after dismissing Lancashire for 142 to complete a 105-run win at Emirates Old Trafford.
On-loan fast bowler JT Langridge dismantled the hosts on the final morning, claiming five wickets for 51 runs in just his second first-class appearance. The paceman finished with match figures of seven for 94, reducing the deficit at the bottom of the table to 18 points with two fixtures remaining.
Late Season Loan Moves Deliver
Short-term acquisitions continue to shape late-season domestic results. While sides competing for promotion deploy overseas spin recruits to force victories, Gloucestershire utilised their young loan paceman to break through the Lancashire lineup.
The visitors initially capitalised on former Lancashire seamer Will Williams taking six for 24 in the first innings, which restricted the home side to 134. Gloucestershire posted 212 and 169 in their two innings, aided by Daaryoush Ahmed striking 51 and India international Sai Kishore taking three second-innings wickets.
Lancashire resumed the final day requiring 128 runs for victory, but their batting faltered immediately when George Balderson edged to second slip.
Top Order Batters Falter Again
Rocky Flintoff provided the sole substantial resistance for the home side, constructing a career-best 65 before holing out to long-off as the final wicket. Eight Lancashire batters failed to reach double figures during the decisive run chase, with Noman Ali and Mitch Stanley departing in quick succession.
Squad reshaping will dictate the off-season for lower-division clubs, accelerating a looming wicketkeeper transfer scramble across the domestic circuit. Lancashire now travel to Canterbury to face Kent, while Gloucestershire host Middlesex at Bristol.
