England international Capsey has signed with the Sydney Sixers for the upcoming WBBL|12 campaign, departing the Melbourne Renegades to join her third Big Bash franchise.
The 22-year-old secures the final international slot alongside Sophia Dunkley and Amelia Kerr, as clubs continue finalising their overseas combinations under new direct signing rules.
Addressing Wicketkeeping Roster Void
Her arrival offers a potential solution to the vacancy left by Alyssa Healy’s retirement.
The off-spinner claimed 26 wickets across 18 matches for the Renegades, but recently revived her wicketkeeping skills for England against Ireland.
Speaking to cricket.com.au, Sixers coach Peter Clarke highlighted her tactical value.
“Whether we have an injury to whoever’s our primary keeper … or you decide to do different things with your list – the more versatile any player is, the more options you have as a coaching staff to maybe try different combinations,” Clarke said.
He added: “I think at her best she could be a great player.”
Welcoming Third Big Bash Stint
The former Melbourne Stars overseas representative joins a formidable top order featuring Ellyse Perry.
“I’ve loved my previous experiences playing in Australia and I’m looking forward to returning and being part of the Sixers environment,” Capsey said.
The Sydney Sixers have five domestic roster spots remaining to fill ahead of the new season.
