The match-up between Rajasthan Royals and Delhi Capitals could prove pivotal for both sides’ seasons in the 2026 IPL. Rajasthan will be aiming to strengthen their position in the top four, while Delhi will be hoping to build momentum for a late push towards the play-offs.

The Rajasthan Royals are poised to make their third play off appearance in the last five years, in 2022 and 2024. They’ve lost just three times this IPL season and have looked a force to be reckoned with. With a win against Delhi their post season should be all but secured.

Delhi however, have had a poor season and look to miss out on the play offs yet again. Since 2016 they have made the play offs just three times and remain one of the only IPL sides without that golden trophy.

This will be the first time this season that the two sides will of met but Rajasthan will be the side high on confidence. They have not lost at home this season and will be looking to continue that streak.

Delhi are coming off the back of a nine wicket thrashing by RCB. At one stage being 8-6, they crawled their way to 75 all out. Which was no match for the powerful batting line up of RCB, who chased it down in just 6.3 overs. View the full scorecard of that incredible match here.

Rajasthan Royals IPL 2026 Form Guide

RR have looked in fine touch this IPL campaign. They’ve won a total of six games from nine played which puts them fourth on net run rate.

Their top order have been the main talking point. Opening with Yashasvi Jaiswal and the 15 year old phenomenon, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi. Jaiswal is the 11th top scorer this IPL season with 306 runs while Sooryavanshi sits in third with 400. He became the fastest player in IPL history to score 400+ runs in a season.

Their bowling has been equally impressive. Jofra Archer has led the attack superbly, taking 14 wickets and becoming the Royals’ all-time leading wicket-taker. He has been well supported by Ravi Bishnoi, whose leg spin has provided the perfect balance to Archer’s pace.

Rajasthan Royals – Key Players to Watch

Without question the number one player to watch out for on this Rajasthan side is Vaibhav Sooryavanshi. Born on the 27th of March 2011 he has taken the IPL by storm. Striking at an incredible 238.10 at an average of 44.44.

When looking at the bowling Jofra Archer is the one to watch. The Englishman has been lethal opening the bowling, taking a wicket off the first ball of the match on three separate occasions. He was unlucky to not make it four against SRH as Dhruv Jurel put down Travis Head.

This one coming against Tim Seifert being the pick of the three.

Delhi Capitals Form Guide and Season Overview

The Delhi Capitals have been below par this IPL season. Winning just three from their eight games played, it’s been a season of inconsistency.

KL Rahul leads the batting with 358 runs, putting him fourth across the whole league. Averaging 51.14 at a strike rate of 185.49 with his high score being an incredible 152 not out.

Their bowling has struggled immensely this season. None of Delhi’s bowlers have cracked double figures with the top wicket taker being a three way tie between Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav and Lungisani Ngidi.

Delhi Capitals – Ones to Watch

With the bat we’ll focus on the obvious, KL Rahul who’s been the rock in this Delhi batting lineup. Ahead of Sameer Rizvi who’s 149 runs behind in second for the team.

On the bowling side of things, the experienced Axar Patel is one to keep an eye on. Taking seven wickets with an economy rate of 8.33.

Sawai Mansingh Stadium Pitch Report and Match Conditions

The Sawai Mansingh Stadium has seen just one game during this IPL season which was Rajasthan’s third loss of the season at the hands to Sunrisers Hyderabad.

The pitch based off of that game offers a lot of pace and bounce as it looks to be another batter friendly wicket. Expect some high scores and a lot of big hitting throughout both teams innings. We expect a 200+ game for both teams.

RR vs DC Preview – Rajasthan Look to Go Top and Delhi Desperately Need to Bounce Back

Rajasthan will be hoping their formidable opening two can set the tone. Setting the middle order up with a perfect platform to either set Delhi and impossible target or chase the target set.

For the Delhi Capitals, well they’ll be wanting to put the previous game behind them and focus on whats to come. KL Rahul will be needing a partner in crime to take on the likes of Jofra Archer. Can Tristan Stubbs or David Miller be the men to do so?
